The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Kano State has observes the National Ordinance Day aimed at appealing the conscience of Nigerians to understand the significance and display the correct features of Nigeria's national symbols.
These symbols include the Nigeria flag, the National Anthem, the National Pledge, Coat of Arms, Nigerian Constitution, the Nigerian currency, the Nigerian International Passport and the Nigerian National Identity Card.
In a press statement issued by the State Director, National Orientation Agency Kano Directorate, Alh Lawal Haruna Markafi said, the day is set aside as a result of wide spread of misunderstanding and misrepresentation of our various National Symbols, gross disregard, disrespect, abuse and misuse of the symbols to create awareness and to demonstrate our love for the country and nationalistic re-awakening spirit.
The statement made public by Mr Olayinka S.O unbehalf of the State Director Lawal, added that, "Our National core values as enumerated in section 2, sub-section 23 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria are expressed in our National symbols and should further find practical expression in the manifestation of those values by Nigerians through the inspiration drawn from our National symbols."
He said, Nigerian National Flag was established by the Flag and Coat of Arms Ordinance Act No. 48 of September 16, 1960. The green-white-green was raised for the first time on October 1, 1960.
"The flag brings to mind memories of sacrifice by our heros past, thereby inspiring unity, peace and patriotism," the statement emphasised.
It can be recalled that, A video clips in circulation over the social media platforms has shown how Naira notes were spraying in a receiption for the bridge and groom during President Muhammad Buhari daughter Hanan some weeks back in September this year.
