The International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) has trained journalists drawn from various Media organisations on budget Tracking in Jigawa State.
In a welcome address delivered by the ISMPH Program Officer Mrs Bunmi Awada during a one day training held Thursday at Dutse Royal Hotel in Dutse, the state capital, said the workshop tittled training for media on budget tracking and utilisation is to equip the media practitioners working in the state with the necessary skills needed for them to partake in effective budget tracking.
Mrs Bunmi however explained that, part of the training objective is to sensitised media on the vital role they can play in the area of budget tracking in order to draw attention of the governments and stakeholders where necessary on implementation of what was budgeted on the current war against Severe Accute Malnutrition (SAM) which is one of the major caused of death among young children in Jigawa state.
"We gathered here to renew efforts and strategies with you on the proper ways to track what is budgeted for fighting matnutrition as well as ensuring that it's properly utilised," Bunmi, told the participant journalists.
However, The training contained three different presentations conducted by a consultant to the ISMPH Mr Kenneth Okoinemg on the background study of the economic, society and policy making.
Newskeeper reports that, All presentations carried out during the training by the ISMPH Consultant Mr Kenneth gives emphasis on capacity building of the journalists on the best ways of budget tracking and reporting with the aim of ensuring transparency and accountability.
