As Covid-19 is resurfacing in what appears to be a second wave of the disease across international communities, Nigeria inclusive, Jigawa state government began the implementation of some measures it has taken during the first outbreak to toward curtailing the pandemic in the state.
Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar while addressing journalists at the Government House, Dutse, the state capital today's (Wednesday) stated that, "We have no option than to institute further measures to protect the people of our dear state in conformity with National Covid-19 control guidelines of the federal government."
Henceforth, The Governor directed that from Tomorrow the 24th December, 2020, Civil servants from grade level 12 downward would be working from home for an initial period of two weeks.
The governor however explained that, Any gathering above 50 people is not allowed except in the mosques or churches as " strict personal hygiene, social distancing, wearing of face masks must also be observed," He added
According to him, the work at home order does not include essential services sectors such as health, finance, water among others.
Moreover, Governor Badaru who required the support of all people in the state pointed that, the measures as readopted, "are not intended to put people in hardship but for public good that, when observed will protect the citizenry," he stressed further.
Jigawa state had within the last three weeks recorded 47 new Covid-19 cases with one death, Bringing the cumulative number of fatality to 12 and 386 cases since the virus appeared in the state.
It's recalled that, Due to the emerging situation, Schools in Jigawa state were closed since last week Tuesday 15th December, 2020 to prevent eventual spread of Covid-19 in these institutions and the state at large.
