Kano Assembly Elect New Speaker, Other Principal Officers - Newskeeper

Following the unexpected voluntary resignation of Hon Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa from his speakership position together with the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly Kabiru Hassan Dashi and the Deputy Majority Leader Tasi'u Ibrahim Zabainawa at the earliest hours of Tuesday, Members of the House have elected Hon Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari as new speaker of the House.


Before this development, Right Hon. Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari member representing Makoda constituency was holding the position of Deputy Speaker in the 9th State Assembly.


Similarly, The House has nominated and elected Hon. Zubairu Hamza Massu member representing Sumaila constituency as new Deputy Speaker, while Hon. Labaran Abdul Madari was returned a new Majority Leader.


The House also nominated Hon. Abdullahi Iliyasu Yaryasa as Deputy Majority Leader while Hon. Ayuba Labaran Durum the chief whip,  member representing Kabo and majority whip Hon. Hayatu Musa Dorawar Sallau retain their posts.


A statement from the Press Secretary of the Kano State  House of Assembly Nura Bala Ajingi quoted that,The new Speaker and other principal officers elected were already sworn in under their new positions.
