The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Election Commission (JISIEC) has fixed the 26th day of June, 2021 to hold the local government council elections in the state.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Commission Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim during a stakeholders meeting held Tuesday at the Commission's conference Hall in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
He said the commission has concluded all necessary arrangements to conduct the election in accordance with sections 10 subsection (1) and 64 subsection (1) of JISIEC Law Cap 2012.
Mr Adamu explained that, So far, about twelve political parties have wrote to the commission and indicated interest to participate in the forthcoming local government elections.
"The sale of nomination forms would commence on 12th May and ends on the 26th of May, 2021, while verification of candidates sponsored by political parties to contest the elections would be conducted from 13th to 27th May 2021," he highlighted.
However, The Chairman said that, the Nomination and expression of interest forms for Chairmanship and Councillorship would be sold at N500,000 and N250,000 respectively.
The chairman further assured that, the commission would maintained it's earned reputation towards conducting a free and fair 2021 local government elections in the state.
The stakeholders meeting have in attendance, representatives from many political parties, Security Agencies and other civil organizations.
