Just In: Police Confirms One Killed, 30 Others Kidnapped In Niger

The Niger state Police Command has confirmed the killing of one person and kidnapping of 68 others by bandits in Zazzaga town, Munya Local government area of the state.

Confirming the incident to journalists, Wednesday, The State Commissioner of Police Mr Bala Kuryas, stated that, the attack happened around 2am on Wednesday (today).

He said, “Police are already on the trail of the attackers to rescue the kidnapped victims unhurt.”

The Commissioner described that, “The attackers came in large numbers when the victims were sleeping and took control of the community operating from house to house where one person was killed while 30 persons were kidnapped".

An eye witness who speaks to Newskeeper in condition of anonymity said, the recent banditry attacks has left people in the area in uncertainty, fear and lost hope in the way government and security agencies are tacking the security issue.

It's recalled that, recently, Niger state government confirmed that, there are five communities that are under control and incursion of Boko Haram in the state.
