Jigawa State Police Command in collaboration with local hunters have arrested 14 suspected kidnappers and killers of two police officers and one vigilante group member during a raid to three suspected kidnappers’ den in the state.
The state police commissioner CP Aliyu Tafida made this known, Thursday, while parading the suspects to newsmen at the Police Headquarters Dutse.
He said following the abductions of one businessman and killing of two police officers in Taura local government on Sunday, the command intensified the operation to arrest the suspected criminals in the state.
CP Tafida explained that during “Operation flush out” carried out in Sule-Tankarkar LGA in collaboration with members of the Hunters group, three criminal hideouts were raided in Dajin Maizuwo, Dan Gwanki and Yandamo villages all in Sule-Tankarkar LGA of the state.
One Hadiza Alhaji Chadi who was earlier abducted on 08 January at Marma village of KiriKasamma was rescued unhurt.
“During the raids, ten male and four Female suspects were arrested while two of the suspects sustained injuries as a result of an exchange of fire.
“The recoveries made during the operation included three AK47 Rifles, nine (9) Magazines and three hundred and eight (308) live ammunition of 7.6mm., one burnt general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) with its two empty chains and one Toyota Hummer Bus.
“Other recoveries were nine (9) motorcycles ₦2,070,000.00k cash, six different handsets with nine 12 SIM cards, 5 SD Card Memories, and charms,” the commissioner revealed.
CP Tafida added that, among the rifles recovered, two were carted away from the Police Officers killed at Kwalam village Taura LGA on Sunday while responding to a distress call.
Also, one motorcycle recovered belongs to one Abdu Isah Sajo a commander of Yanbulala Local Security out-fit who was also shot and killed last Tuesday.
