Court Grants Ganduje's Critic, Mu'azu Magaji Bail Under Strict Conditions

A magistrate’s court in Kano State has granted bail to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje's famous critic Engr Magaji Ma'azu.

Engr Mu'az who was a former commissioner of work during Ganduje's first tenure is facing 4-count charge of alleged intentional insult, character defamation, inciting disturbance and injurious falsehood against the governor.

The dependant on Monday while mentioning the charges to him in the court which contravened section 392,399 and 144 of the administration of criminal justice of Kano state 1999 pleaded not guilty.

The charges, to which he pleaded not guilty on Monday, contravened Sections 392, 399 and 114 of the Administration of Criminal Justice of Kano State 1999.

During the Court sitting on Friday, Magistrate Aminu Gabari, ruled on the bail application and granted the prayers of the accused, granting him bailed under the requires conditions that consists the sum of N1million with two sureties.

The Court also stamped that, One of the sureties, must be the village head of Sarauniya which is the indigene of the accused and that the other one most either be Hisbah Commander or Chief Imam of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.

However, The Court asked the accused to submit his international passport and that, the two sureties are to provide their passport photographs to the court.

Before the adjournment of the case to the 2nd March, 2022, Magidstrate Gabari stated that the registry of the court would visit to ascertain the sureties’ residences as part of the bail conditions.

Its recalled that, Engr Ma'azu Magaji Dansarauniya was arrested by the Nigerian Police on Thursday 28th, January, 2022 in Abuja shortly after he was featured in a live television program with Channel Television.
