Negligence On Security: Jigawa Suspends 5 Senior Traditional Rulers

Gumel Emirate Council in Jigawa state has announced a suspension of two District Heads and three other Village Heads for negligence of duty.

Announcing the suspension on Wednesday shortly after the Council's emergency security meeting, Gumel Emirate Council Secretary Alhaji Murtala Aliyu said, The suspended District Heads are that of Jeke, Kachallan Gumel Alhaji Sani Ibrahim and Dan Furyan Gumel Alhaji Ismaila Muhammad of Shabaru respectively.

Other traditional rulers suspended according to the Emirate's secretary are the Village Heads of Mai zuwo, Garin Danga and Yan Baro.

"The meeting resolved to take the action pending the police investigation report," the secretary added.

He said the village heads did not report the suspected security problems in their areas to the emirate council on time.

However, the secretary commended the Jigawa state police command and other security agencies for raiding the suspected kidnappers hideout which resulted to their arrest and uncovered guns and ammunition, motorcycles and large sum of money.

It can be recalled that, On the 27th January, 2022, Jigawa State Police Command has paraded before the newsmen, 14 suspected kidnappers that were arrested during an organized intelligent-led-raid code named "Operation flush out" in three criminal hideouts within Sule Tankarkar local government area which is under Gumel Emirate.
