As part of it's mandate to ensure free flow of traffic in the State, Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have concluded plans for the deployment of no fewer than 2,000 personnel across the State during the forthcoming Sallah Celebration.

The Agency in a Press statement made available to newsmen in Kano by its Public Relations Officer Nabulisi Abubakar K/Na'isa said that, "The measure became necessary in such a festivity period considering the large turnout of vehicles and other road users during the period".

"The officers have been charged to ensure motorists and other road users comply with all the State laws with regards to driving and the use of roads so as to prevent unnecessary traffic hold-up recorded during such festivity in the past."

KAROTA PRO's statement also warns that, "The Agency will arrest and prosecute anyone who violates traffic laws during the season as some unscrupulous persons have made it a habit to engage in dangerous driving during the time."

"Parents should desist from the habit of giving their underage children vehicle to drive especially during this period as any child caught driving would be arrested, fined and have his vehicle seized just as reckless driving and over speeding would also be dealt with," the Managing Director Baffa Danagundi admonished in the statement.

However, the Agency cautioned the general public and other road users to adhere strictly to all traffic laws before, during and after the Sallah Festive holidays to avoid unfortunate incidences that could lead to injury, loss of lives or properties.
