Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has inaugurated the distribution of palliative to people with less privilege status across the state.
The Governor while launching the event at Gumel said, the distribution of the palliative was meant to support families from the economic hardship caused by the fuel subsidy removal.
It would be recalled that, President Bola Tinubu had during his swearing in on May 29th this year announced the removal of subsidy on petroleum products which since then make life difficult to Nigerians as a result of incessant inflation on all commodities and services.
Governor Namadi cautioned officials of the committees saddled with the responsibility of sharing the commodities to fear Allah and do what is expected from them and discharge their work according the laid down procedures governing the distribution exercise to the targeted vulnerable.
In the main time, the Governor explained that, “we are on the verge of distributing food items worth billions of naira as palliative, where 47,412 bags of rice, would be shared to the general public according to polling units across the state while 33,329 cartons of spaghetti, and 8,300 bags of maize would also be shared to the orphans and less privilege individuals.”
In the same vain, Mr. Namadi also launched the disbursement of N1.80 billion of which the sum of N40 million would be shared to each of the 27 local government areas in the state.
“We selected a total number of 108,000 vulnerable beneficiaries from the 27 local government and each will be given a cash of N10,000.
Earlier, the executive Secretary, Jigawa State Emergency Management Board Alhaji Haruna Mairiga said the event in Gumel marked the state-wide distribution of the palliative which 4000 households were selected to benefit from each of the 27 local government areas in the state.
