The Association of Nigerian Imams, a revered body of Islamic scholars, gathered in Jigawa State to bestow a prestigious honor on Governor Umar Namadi by turbaning him as 'Garkuwar Limaman Nigeria'.
The occasion of the turbaning ceremony which the honor-title literally means "Shield of Nigerian Imams" was held, Wednesday, at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
The event was a grand assembly of esteemed Imams and scholars from across the country, all united in their recognition of Governor Namadi's exceptional leadership and contributions to the Islamic community.

expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed Imams and scholars for the honor bestowed upon him, acknowledged and recognized the title it as a testament to his administration's commitment to upholding Islamic values and promoting the welfare of Muslim communities in Jigawa State.

Governor Namadi pledged to continue working tirelessly for the benefit of his people, emphasizing his dedication to justice, compassion, and service to humanity.
Mr. Namadi who in his speech accepted the challenge and responsibility that came with the esteemed title, vowing to make it a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come, praised the Association of Nigerian Imams for their invaluable contributions to the spiritual development of the country,

Earlier in his address, Sheikh Muhammad Nasir Adam, the President, Association of Nigerian Imams, praised Governor Namadi's selfless service, citing his initiatives that had positively impacted countless lives.
The President explained that the selection of Governor Namadi as "Garkuwar Limaman Nigeria" was a unanimous decision made after careful consideration.
"Governor Namadi's exceptional leadership qualities, commitment to the welfare of his people, and dedication to upholding Islamic values made him an outstanding candidate for the prestigious title," he highlighted.
Sheikh Muhammad Adam further emphasized that, "the title of "Garkuwar Limaman Nigeria" symbolizes the Governor's role as a protector and champion of Islamic interests, and his leadership has had a profound impact on the lives of Muslims in Jigawa State and beyond.
The Association's President also expressed hope that the recognition would inspire Governor Namadi to continue his remarkable work and encourage other leaders to follow in his footsteps.
Commenting at the event, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee who double as the National Treasurer of the Association, Sheikh Imam Aliyu Sa'idu stated that, the Governor's humility and willingness to seek guidance from Islamic scholars had endeared him to the Association, solidifying their decision to confer the esteemed title.
He said that, Governor's commitment to building mosques, Islamic schools, and healthcare facilities had earned him the admiration and respect of the Islamic scholars, adding that Governor's turbaning was a testament to his dedication to upholding Islamic values and promoting peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
In their separate remarks at the occasion, esteemed Imams and scholars shared insightful statements, highlighting Governor Namadi's remarkable achievements and leadership qualities, nothing that the Association's decision was rooted in his unwavering support for Islamic education, infrastructure development, and welfare programs benefiting not only the Muslim communities but also the entire residents of Jigawa State.
Newskeeper reports that, a paper was presented by a renowned Islamic scholar, Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Makari on the contribution of Imams towards peaceful co-existence in Nigeria.
