The Kano State Government has donated ₦100 million to support victims of the recent fire disaster in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the donation during a condolence visit to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.
He said that, the gesture is to provide relief to families of the deceased and support treatment for those injured.
The Governor emphasized the strong historical and cultural ties between Kano and Jigawa States, highlighting Kano's solidarity with its neighbors during this difficult time.
"We are here unbehalf of the Government and people of Kano State to extend our heartfelt condolence to bereaved families and those recovering from injuries and we're praying from Almighty Allah to prevent future tragedies," he said.
In response, Governor Umar Namadi expressed deep gratitude on behalf of Jigawa State, thanking Kano State for its generous support and assured that, "the funds will be judiciously used to aid victims and their families."
According to the Governor on Thursday evening while receiving the entourage, 167 lives had been lost, with 67 people receiving treatment at various medical facilities within and outside the state.
Unfortunately, NEWSKEEPER gathered that the number of deaths as at the time of publishing the story increased to 172.
