In a heart-wrenching announcement, Governor Mallam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State revealed the passing of his dear mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, earlier today, December 25, 2024.
According to the statement made available to newsmen by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary Mr. Hamisu Gumel, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar departed this world in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25th, 2024.
The passing of Governor Namadi's mother has come as a shock, particularly as it coincides with the governor's official trip to China.
Recalls that Governor Namadi had recently travelled abroad for an official engagement aimed at fostering economic ties and exploring investment opportunities for Jigawa State.
The governor's absence abroad has added to the poignancy of the moment, putting doubt that he may not to be physically present with his family during the burial event as it was scheduled to take place today.
However, inspite the distance, the governor has expressed his deep sadness and gratitude for the condolences pouring in from across the state and beyond.
"The burial rites will take place today at 4:30 PM in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions," said the statement.
"Governor Umar Namadi and his family request prayers for the repose of her soul."
The burial rites, scheduled for 4:30 PM today, will be attended by dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers.
Accordingly the statement of the governor's spokesperson urged all attendees to pray for the deceased and offer support to the grieving family.
Governor Namadi's mother Hajiya Maryam was a pillar of strength and inspiration to her family and community. Her passing has sent shockwaves throughout the state, with many offering condolences to the governor and his family.
"The deceased governor's mother will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family and community."
