The Kano State Government has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and APC Governors for their generous donation of N8 billion to support the victims of the recent fire outbreak at the Singer Market in Kano.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists on Tuesday by the Kano state commissioner of information and internal affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya.
"I, on behalf of the Kano State Government, wish to express our profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for donating N5 billion as an intervention fund to support the affected traders," Waiya said.
The commissioner commended the President's timely and compassionate intervention, saying it demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, especially in moments of hardship and distress.
Waiya also praised the APC Governors for their collective donation of N3 billion to the victims, saying their solidarity and sense of shared responsibility reflected the true spirit of cooperative governance and national unity.
"The combined N8 billion intervention donation is a remarkable gesture of empathy and leadership," he said.
He stated that the donation would go a long way in cushioning the suffering of the victims and helping them to rebuild their businesses.
The commissioner assured that the government would ensure transparency and accountability in the utilization of the funds.
"We remain committed to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the affected traders can quickly resume their trading activities," Waiya said.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would reward President Tinubu and the APC Governors for their generosity and protect the state and nation from future occurrences of such incidents.
