The DFID Lafiya program team leader in Jigawa state Dr Abdullahi Maiwada says the program as part of it's support towards the improvement of the health sector in the state commenced the training of health workers from different specialization in the fight against Covid-19 to improve the state testing capacity from 20 to 100 per day for quick and timely response to any suspected cases.
The Jigawa state team leader of the DFID funded project known as "Lafiya Program" Dr Maiwada dropped this hint in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital while interacting with journalists shortly after the commencement of the training of 12,000 Community volunteers (Jakadan Lafiya) on the way to promote public enlightenment on Covid-19 Inspection, Prevention and Control across 27 local government area of Jigawa state.
The team leader who said tha, the training would be conducted in batches revealed that, the first batch of about 2,8000 trainees from the fields of Laboratory Scientists, Technicians and Samples collectors on Covid-19 were selected from each political wards in the state.
He said, the trainees who at the end are expected to train other members of the volunteer stakeholders in promoting public enlightenment against covid-19 pandemic, would also work closely with health practitioners on sample taking and contact tracing against any suspected case of the dreaded coronavirus.
However, Dr Maiwada affirmed that, when phobia of the virus is addressed, people will voluntarily go for testing and put into uses the protocol against the spreading and contracting Covid-19.
