The National Assembly has expressed it's readiness to support governor Gandujes city light rail project which will gulped over 380 billion U.S dollar.
Chairman of the House committee on works Abubakar Kabir Abubakar made this known in Kano while paying a courtesy call on Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at government House, Kano.
Hon Abubakar Kabir hinted that, "We all support your light rail project in Kano state. We are supporting this good and people-centred project hundred percent. We are only waiting for the issue to come up to the National Assembly, to give all our support to it."
Engineer Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, who is representing Bichi federal constituency at the National Assembly said, The Committee was in Kano as part of their oversight function, going round federal government projects being executed in the state and those projects linked to the state from other states.
The committee chairman, while commending the governor for being an excellent example in infrastructural development, added that, said "All of us here are assuring you that whenever we receive anything pertaining your light rail project in the state, we will all accept and endorse it hundred percent."
"Not only members of the House of Representatives would support you on that project, even members of the Senate Committee on Works and by extension, other distinguished members, they will support you Sir," he assured Ganduje.
In a statement made available to Newskeeper in Kano by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Malam Abba Anwar, Engineer explained that, they need to always encourage governor Ganduje to take the state to upper level in terms of infrastructural development and the overall development of the state.
Responding, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state appealled to the members of the committee to put pressure on the contractors that are handling the Kano to Kaduna road project in order to speed up the completion in time.
"Without you visiting these works, as part of your overnight function, you will not understand the lapses or problems associated to these projects," Ganduje stressed.
