The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has in it's assessment of performance and quality assurance on the work of all the pilgrim welfare boards in the county demoted Jigawa state pilgrim welfare board to a B- Category.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Zikirulla Kulle Hassan while paying a courtesy call on Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state in his office.
The Chairman stated that, he was in the state to breif the governor about the preparation of the commission ahead 2021 Hajj exercise, introduced self and inspect some of the facilities of the state Hajj welfare board such as the newly elected Hajj camp situated at Fanisau, Dutse among others.
Mr Zikirulla breifed the governor that, the Jigawa state pilgrim welfare board was earlier among the top list Pilgrim welfare boards across the country but not moved down to position B.
"The assessment which is being conducted after every three years by the National commission now shows that, the Jigawa state pilgrim welfare board found its self a bit lower to second category which is linked to lack of state of the art facilities and offices complex." He complained, while urging the governor to intervened.
In a remark, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar thanks the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission mr Zikirullah Hassan for the visit.
The governor however, pledged to provide all that's required for the state owned Pilgrim welfare board to be upgraded to it's earlier status.
"We'll continue to todo every thing possible to sustained our position in the state pilgrim welfare board" Badaru stressed.
It's reported that, Nigeria is the 5th country in the world with highest number of intending Muslim Pilgrims every year.
