UNICEF Delivers N80 Million Nutrition Commodities To Jigawa

United Nation Children Funds has delivered  3,640 cartons of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) worth eighty million naira to Jigawa state.


The Secretary to Jigawa state government Alhaji Abdulkadir Fanini represented by the Permanent Secretary Cabinet office Muhammad Dagaceri while receiving the products in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital said that, the state government would continue to do everything thing possible toward salvaging the younger ones from malnutrition in the state.


On his part, The Executive Secretary, Jigawa state Primary Health Care Board Dr Kabiru  Ibrahim said, the procured RUTF commodities by Unicef can be used in treating over 3,460 children with severe acute malnutrition.


"The state government paid the complete money for the purchase of the RUTF while UNICEF intermediated between state and manufacturing company for the supply," he explained.

Commenting during the formal handing over of the RUTF commodities, The Chairman of Jigawa Coalition of Civil Society for Nutrition, Comrade Shuaibu Kafingana described the delivery of the nutrition packages as timely.

Comrade Kafingana therefore said, "This is the right time to assist the children ravaged by severe acute malnutrition in the state considering the devastating effects of Covid-19 pandemic."

He promised to collaborate with state government, UNICEF and all stakeholders concerns towards addressing the problem of malnutrition and all other issues that are affecting communities in the state.
