Malnutrion: Kano, UNICEF Pilots New Project To Tackle Hunger Among Children

Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackle the problem of malnutrition among children in the state.


This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Dr. Tijjani Hussain while declaring a One day higher Level advocacy and inception meeting on the Integration of Micro nutrient powder for Children of 6 to 23 months into Dietary Diversity piloted project in the two selected local government of Bichi and Sumaila Local Goverment Areas held at Nasarawa Guest Place, Kano.


Dr. Hussain represented by the Deputy Director, Family Health Malam Murtala Inuwa commended the UNICEF and the State Ministry of Health for organizing the meeting and urged the participants to complied with all the new method so as to complement government efforts in tackling malnutrition especially among the childrens.


In his remarks, the representative of the UNICEF in the state Mr. Oluniyi Oyedokun explained that, the meeting is aimed at discussing rationale on the integration of The Micronutrient Powder into the Dietary piloted project within two selected local government areas in Kano which include Bichi and Sumaila.


"The meeting would also pave ways between relevant stakeholders to discuss modalities for the implementation of the project at the two selected local government areas in state," He stressed


In a statement issued to journalists by the Information Officer of the State Primary Health Care Management Board Maikudi Muhammad Marafa stated that, "highlights of the meeting would include paper presentation as well as discussion session on the successful implementation of the project among other."
