Covid-19: Ganduje Vaccinated, As Kano Kickstarts The Vaccination Exercise

Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been vaccinated against getting infected with the novel Covid-19 disease.

The governor received his AstraZeneca injection at about 2:49pm this Thursday in a public gathering marking the Flagg off of the vaccination exercise held at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano.

Dr Ganduje was administered with the injection by his personal Physician, Dr Fakhraddeen Yahaya Muhammad, in the presence of some members of the State Executive Council, representative of Kano Emirate, frontline health workers, development partners and other critical stakeholders. 

After vaccinating the governor today, the next segment of the exercise would reach out to top government functionaries, workers on essential duties, leaders at all level as well as clerics and other members of the public. 

In a breif remark at the occasion, Kano state commissioner for health Dr Ibrahim Tsanyawa expressed the readiness of his ministry to carry out the exercise.

"The vaccine is safe and exclusively meant for the purpose it is provided for which is to prevent people from getting infected with the pandemic," said the commissioner. 

He called on the general public to give maximum support to the vaccination exercise which would be conducted in phases.
