Nigerian government has  flags off  it's new Solar Home System to connect off-grid communities across the country.

Speaking while flagging off the system held at Jengefe village, located in Kazaure local government area, Jigawa state, Professor Yemi Osinbajo explained that, the project would provide five million new solar connection in the country.

 "The New Solar Home System introduced the federal government was to reduce total dependence on the national grid and create more job opportunities to Nigerians," the VP highlighted.

He said, the project which would gulp over N140 billion is a private sector-led electricity access acceleration scheme, facilitated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Commenting in the occasion, the Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru commended the Buhari's led federal government for the 100,000 solar home system provided in the area and all other programmes benefitted by the citizens in the state.
