The Emir said this when the Yobe State Coordinator of the National Health Insurance Scheme paid him a visit on Family Group Individual Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) at his palace in Damagum.
He said Health Insurance is one of the Federal Government programmes that people benefit most as it enable poor people to access quality healthcare easily.
Mai Sale pointed that, even though no one pray for illiness but as humans, sickness is unavoidable hence the need to prepare for it, adding that, health insurance is the best way of preparation for it.
The Emir promised to contact wealthy individuals and the people in high positions to sponsor those that can not afford to patronize the GIFSHIP.
"I will advocate to the well to do individuals to invest as a form of charity to support health of our people," said the Emir after Quoting some Quranic verses to support his call.
The traditional ruler, recalled the time he was a Commissioner of Health in Yobe State in 2009 when he attended various meetings on how health insurance would be implemented and accepted in the rural areas.
''There is need for adquate Social mobilization to enable people accept and patronize the Program," he explained.
In his address, The NHIS Coordinator, Yobe State, Alhaji Dabo Abdullahi said he was at the Emir's palace as part of the sensitisation tour on the scheme, thus emphasizing on the benefit of the programme.
"The programme was designed to give social health insurance to the people that are not enjoying any of the NHIS Programmes and it is also a way of achieving the Universal Health Coverage in the country," he highlighted further.
Commenting, Salisu Hassan, the Head of Programmes NHIS Yobe, said the beneficiaries of GIFSHIP will enjoy all levels of healthcare from primary, secondary up to the tertiary when ever the need arises.
