The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has paid the sum of N331,698,679.62 as terminal pension benefits to 200 ex-workers in the month of October this year.
This was stated by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Kamilu Musa during a Press Conference held today (Wednesday) at the Board's headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
Alhaji Kamilu explained that, such total amount of money being paid this month comprises three categories of workers who leave the services at State, Local Government Councils and Local Government Education Authorities level.
"The scheme have captured and settled the payment of N199,119,427.07 this month to a number of 47 retirees from state, 52 from local government councils and 22 from local government education authorities respectively," Said the Executive Secretary
According to him, during the period under review, death benefits worth over N113 million was paid to a total number of 47 ex-civil servants from both the state, LGC's and LGEA's who died on active service.
On the death pension balance, the Executive Secretary mentioned that, the scheme had released during the stipulated period N17,692,763.19 to the 9 retired workers at state, 6 at LGC's and 5 from LGEA's who died before reaching five years collecting their pension in the state.
"We paid the sum of N1,249,781.04 as a refund of 8 percent under payment to 12 people at state level who leaves the service before reaching 10 years of their retirement," the E.S highlighted further.
