Northern Surveyors Forum has decried on the shortage of registered professional surveyors in Northern Nigeria region.
The Forum made the disclosure in a communiqué issued at the end of it's 2021 annual general meeting held at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse capital, Jigawa state.
After describing the situation as very alarming, the Forum also expressed concerned on the low adhearance to the extent laws and regulations of survey as provided in the constitution of Nigeria and SURCON gazetted bulleting.
"NSF resolved to join hands with governments and all other critical stakeholders to address the challenges," said in the communique.
However, during the meeting, members of the Forum have elected Dr Isa Funtua Abdulkadir as the new chiarman and other executives to man the affairs of the union for the next two years.
In his acceptance speech the new chairman of the forum Dr Isa Funtua Abdulkadir promised to work hand in hands with other stakeholders to enhance the profession in Northern Nigeria.
Dr Funtua also called on the association members to be more proactive in assisting the young professional graduate to register with the body for effective guidance in practicing the profession.
He mentioned that, his leadership would do all it's best to as a matter of urgency provide a befitting Regional Office of the Forum in Kaduna for easy co-ordination of their activities.
Other executives elected during the meeting are Kabiru Arugungun Deputy Chairman, Surv Muhajjir Secretary, Mr Abduljabbar assistance secretary, Rashida Bashir Treasurer, Dr Shuaibu Ade Financial secretary, Ibrahim Gumu Auditor and Umar Hussaini as PRO.
