I settle 3 years' unpaid staff claims - VC FUD

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Dutse, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad said since his inception in office, he has settled all inherited staff claims of about three years.

Professor Sabo Muhammad made this known during a press briefing on his one year's anniversary in office, held on Wednesday at the Senate's Chamber of the University.

The Vice Chancellor, said that, in the last one year, the university has recorded a tremendous improvement in the quality of services delivery not only in the academics, infrastructures but also in the bursary department.

He noted that, One controversial area that made things difficult in the past was the delay in payment of staff claims adding that, "The new policy is that, staff claims are treated and cleared within five working days."

"My administration met a three years backlog of unpaid staff promotion arrears, now with the efforts put in place by the Bursar between office of the Accountant-General, IPPIS office, we ensured that, staff arrears, promotion and outstanding staff salaries were paid," he explained.

On the budgetary allocation of the university, the VC, highlighted that, for the first time in a long while, "This is the first time the university was able to access 100 percent of its budget on overhead, capital and personnel."

Part of the success story in my one year in office, The Varsity Vice Chancellor stated that, FUD was able to access N165.8m TETFUND intervention for the expansion, development and procurement of equipment for the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and many other centres of the university.
