As Jigawa state government continued with the first and second doses of vaccination against the noble Covid-19 pandemic, So far, the state has reached over 3 million people with the first dosage of the jab.
Speaking to Journalists in during the Biweekly Media Engagement Forum organized by the Jigawa State Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists held Wednesday at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, The Permanent Secretary, Jigawa state ministry of health Dr Salisu Mu'azu said, with the current coverage, Jigawa has achieved 70% of the state targeted population.
The permanent Secretary explained that, Going by the population proportion, Jigawa was rated the 2nd in terms of Covid-19 vaccination coverage across the country.
On the second dosage of the vaccination, Dr. Mu'azu said that, over 400,000 people have been successful immunised as the exercise continued in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
More so, The Permanent Secretary hinted that, the above successes in the state was as a result of the collaboration on ground between government and all stakeholders in the state.
Dr. Mu'azu also highlighted that, Jigawa state has established a Test Centre and 54-bed capacity Permanent Isolation Center in Dutse to manage any eventual pandemic and epidemic diseases in the state.
Despite the fact that health services continue to flourish in Jigawa State in spite years of non-appointment of health commissioner, However, NEWSKEEPER gathered that, experts believe that the failure to appoint a substantive health commissioner could lead to some delay or incompetence in the field at any time in the future, which the failure to appoint a commissioner shall draw them in accordance with the rules.
