Fire Prevention: Jigawa Manpower Development Institute trains staff

The Jigawa state Manpower Development Institute, Dutse has trained it's staff on the recipe towards prevention and mitigation of the fire disaster.

Speaking during the event which took place at the premises of the Institute in Dutse, The MDI Managing Director Umar Faruk Wada explained that, the training was aimed at equipping the staff on the necessary skills on disaster management such as fire break out.

The Manahing Director also attributed that, "lack of technical knowledge and skills on fire prevention and the use of fire extinguishers are the top most causes of lost during fire incidences either in government buildings or properties of individuals."

However, Faruk Wada cited that, "You can see fire extinguisher in all most all government facilities such as in Schools and MDA's building but when their is fire break out, the staff have nothing to prevent escalation of the fire simply because they are not trained on how to operate the available fire prevention gadgets."

"This training was organized  to make the staff conversant on the use of fire extinguishers during emergencies," he pointed out clearly.

He then urged the participants to make the best use of the knowledge they acquired in the training in the practical aspect of their daily routine duties.

Also, the MD appealed to Jigawa state government to organize the same massive training of workers at both state and local government on fire prevention and use of fire extinguishers in the government offices to protect lives and properties.

During the one day training, papers were presented by some consultants on the best way to use fire extinguisher and to tackle fire incident in case of emergency.
