Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has signed into law on the 2023 Budget which was approved by the State Assembly.

The Governor signed the appropriation bill into law on Thursday during the Executive Council Meeting held at the council chamber, Government House, Kano.

Before approving the budget, it has been increased with the sum of over 23 billion naira by the Kano State Assembly.

NEWSKEEPER reports that, shortly after signing the budget, Governor Ganduje who said the budget is the last in his tenure as governor, praised members of the State Assembly on the way they worked on the budget without delay, which will enable the government to start using the budget at the beginning of the new year since it has become law.

However, Ganduje promised to continue giving the Assembly its independence, without interference into their work.

"We will continue the great works that we started before the end of my term of office. There is no doubt that, this is my last signing on the budget as governor," said Ganduje.

He also assured that, the budget as presented will be more focused on completing the projects that have started to avoid leaving a lot of debt to the government that will succeed him.

Early, the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said that, the Assembly was able to scrutinised and pass the budge into law with the cooperation given by all the Heads of Ministries and Government Agencies and other stakeholders during the work of the committees of the Assembly.

It can be recalled that, Governer Ganduje had presented the 2023 budget of N245 billion before the state Assembly on Friday, 4th of November this year.
