January 2023 will remain indelible in the memory of the people of Kano State and the Governor, His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as it was a month of honour and joy for the State.
First, it was in that eventful month, that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje successfully hosted the Special Delegates' Conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) which held between January 25 and January 27.
At the conference which was declared open by the Governor,the President of the NUJ,Chief Chris Isiguzo, thanked Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for his financial support and participation in the conference.
More than 300 delegates attended the conference which held at the Afficent Event Center, Sultan Road, Kano.
"This occasion would have been less attractive and exciting without the financial support and participation of our beloved Special Guest of Honour,His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State.
"Your Excellency,we shall cherish your kindness and support for a long time to come.Thank you very much, Sir," the NUJ president remarked.
Less than a week after, came a bigger day of honour and joy for the state - January 30, when President Muhammadu Buhari visited Kano and commissioned landmark projects executed by the Ganduje Administration and the Federal Government.
The projects included the 10 megawatts Federal Government, Kano Grid Solar Power, and the multi-billion Naira Dala Inland Dry Port at Zawachiki, Kumbotso Local Government Area,the Kano State Data Centre at Audu Bako Secretariat, Tier Four Data Centre and office complex at Galaxy Backbone Limited Project located on Ahmadu Bello Way.
Others were: the Cancer Treatment Centre at Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu; Muhammadu Buhari Road Interchange at NNPC Station, along Maiduguri Road; Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre, Zaria Road and the Federal Government Housing Units at Gandun Sarki, Darmanawa.
During the one-day visit, the president,apart from commissioning the projects,also made a remark that gladdened the hearts of the people of Kano State and the APC administration ably led by His Excellency Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Buhari, who made the remark at a special Presidential Lunch organised in his honour by the State Government at the Government House,Kano,commended Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for his provision of infrastructure for the development of the state,over the years.
The president particularly mentioned the Underpass bridges and roads provided by the Ganduje Administration which he said were facilitating free flow of traffic in the state.
"I congratulate the Governor for the performance," the president said, amid resounding round of applause from the gathering.
Earlier, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thanked the president for what he has been doing for the development of Kano State such as the ongoing AKK Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, the ongoing Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi, Niger republic railway project and the Kano-Dutse railway project.
Ganduje said by executing these projects,the president was making Kano the commercial nerve centre of Northern states,as well as the commercial nerve centre of some West African States.
He also thanked the president for coming to the state to commission projects executed by the State Government and the Federal Government.
Such projects, Ganduje said included the Cancer Treatment Centre at Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu; Muhammadu Buhari Road Interchange at NNPC Station, along Maiduguri Road; Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre, Zaria Road, and a Federal Government Housing Units project at Gandun Sarki, Darmanawa.
It was indeed a great feat for Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to have many of his administration's landmark projects inaugurated by the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The projects which include the Muhammadu Buhari Road Interchange,Hotoro,the Cancer Treatment Centre at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialists Hospital,Giginyu and the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre located on Zaria Road would immensely impact the lives of the people of the state and beyond.
The president's commendation of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje that came after the inauguration of the projects, will equally remain heartwarming for the Governor and the people of the state for a long time to come.
