Nigeriens living in Kano have Condemn Coup Against democratically elected government and declared support for peaceful restoration of the ousted President Bazoum’s democratic government.
Chairman of the Nigeriens residing in Kano, Lawalli Mamman Barma made the disclosure while interacting with journalists shortly after a peaceful protest, held Saturday, in Kano.
The Group's Chairman, appealed to the military coupists to without any conditions, whatsoever to release President Mohamed Bazoum, his family and all other victims that were allegedly incarcerated during the military intervention conducted on 16th July, 2023.
Mr Barma said that, “We ask without conditions, the release of His Excellency, President, Bazoum who is legitimately elected by the sovereign people of Niger, as well as his family and all other incarcerated persons."
However, the group while calling for the restoration of democratic leadership in Niger Republic, at the same time, urged ECOWAS to rescind its decision to enforce military forces in Niger.
"Dialogue is the best approach to resolve conflict than military confrontation," the group stressed.
Also, the Nigeriens living in Kano who came out to the streets in a peaceful protest, commended President Mohamed Bazoum over his plans to enhance economic development of Niger Republic.
He further applauded Bazoum on his multiple efforts of capacity building to develop human and capital resources, noting that during his period as president, Nigeriens people witnessed political, economic and social development.
The Group lamented that, the Presidential guard, General Abdoul Rahamane Thiani who supposed to ensure security of the President acted other way.
“We should always remember that prior to the military intervention in Niger Republic, the country under President Bazoum is experiencing a growth in peace, economy and political stability.
