How Dangote Group Train Journalists From Northwest On Modern Skills

The Dangote Group has trained journalists on modern skills to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

Speaking during the 2-days workshop held at RK Hotel, Kano, the resource person from the center for Financial Journalism Mr. Ray Echebiri said, the training is part of the social corporate responsibilities of the company.

He said that, about 50 working journalists were selected from across the 7 Nigeria's Northwestern states.

Mr. Ray further highlighted to the participants that apart from enhancing their skills, digital journalism also serves as a means of earning legitimate money.

The participants were drawn from both the print, electronic and online medium outlets based in the Northwest zone that comprised Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Katsina States.

In their separate goodwill message at the occasion, the Kano and Kaduna Chairmen of Nigeria Union of Journalists Council, (NUJ) Comrades, Abbas Ibrahim, and Asmau Halilu thanked the Dangote Group for the opportunity given to media practitioners in the northwestern states of Nigeria.

Papers presented at the workshop includes "Best Practices in Reporting" by Mr. Ray Echebiri, "Reporting in the Digital Age" by Mrs. Aishatu Sule,  “Generating Artificial Intelligence in Digital Reporting” by Malam Aminu.

Others who made presentations at the event from the hosting Dangote Group includes Head of Corporate Communications Dept, Mr. Tony Chiejina, Projects Manager Alhaji Sanusi Abdulkadir, Regional Manager, Dangote Fertilizer, Wilson Kola Wole and his counterpart of Dangote Cement, Mr. Sunday Afolayan and Jibrin Abubakar.

Participants who spoke at the workshop themed “Ethics, Skills, and Personal Qualities for Reporting in the Digital Age,” said the event helped them to learned various skills and knowledge to carryout their duties inline with the changing global trends.
