Jigawa NAWOJ Gets New Executives

Nigerian Association of Women Journalists  ( NAWOJ) Jigawa state chapter has elected new executive leaders to lead the association for the next three years.

The election took place over the weekend with the incumbent chairperson Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan emerged as reelected chairperson.

Speaking during the inauguration of the new executives, the National Vice chairperson In charge of Northwest Comrade Halima Musa commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

"The election I supervised today in Jigawa state has followed a due process and all the candidate has satisfied the createria laid down by the NAWOJ constitution and that of  Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)"


"I am appealing to the new executives to carry all union members along, cooperate with state government, NUJ, partners and general public in championing for the interest of women and general public for the peace and progress of the society," she said.

In his speech at the occasion the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Jigawa state council Comrade Muhammad Garba Bulangu said, the election was a product sacrifice and upholding the principle of justice, fairness and democratic tenants.

"So many things happen in the process of this election, but all  it is now a history, " there are so many lesson to learn, impunity has no longer have any space in our Union, democracy and justice will continue to prevailed against all odds,"the Chairman stated.

Speaking during the election, the chairman credentials Committee Comrade said, they were religiously guided by the constitution, and all the process followed for the election are documented for future reference.

Other new elected executives are Fadila Baffa Abdulkadir as Vice Chairperson, Zainab Baba Aliyu Santali - Secretary, Nafisa Hassan Abdullahi - Assistant Secretary,  Halima Yusuf -  Treasurer, Safiya Inuwa Musa -  Financial Secretary and Zainab J. Chiroma as Auditor of the association..

In her acceptance speech, the newly reelected Chairperson, Comrade Hawwa Ladan, pledged to consolidate upon their past success in moving NAWOJ forward.

According to her, we pledged to redouble our efforts this time around to lived above board, and to abide by our constitution as disciplined NAWOJ family's, assuring that, we will carry along our member's in supporting their noble cause objectively for our collective goods.
