Kano govt deserves praise for expansion of dry farming areas, water supply - Iliyasu Bagwai

The former Chairman of the Water Supply Committee of the Watari Water treatment in Bagwai, Alh Iliyasu Wakili Bagwai praised the efforts of the Kano State government to provide uninterrupted tap water in Bagwai and its surroundings.

Alh Iliyasu Wakili Bagwai stated this in his interview with journalists in the area.

He said that, there is no doubt that the government of Kano State under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf deserves praise in this regard, especially the way Bagwai community and the surrounding areas have access to tap water at all times despite the current situation of high gas prices.

However, the former Chairman of the Water Committee welcomed an attempt by the State Government through Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to begin the implementation of the expansion of the summer farming areas in Bagwai and its surroundings which reached about one thousand hectares.

He said that, the areas affected by this project include Bagwai, Dogon Dawa, Dullu and Kauyen Adam's villages among others.

Alh Iliyasu Wakili Bagwai added that, there is no doubt that if this project is completed, it will help in the development of agriculture, food production, employment and increase in wealth among the local community and Kano State as a whole.

Wakili Bagwai, who is also a former employee of the Ministry of Agriculture, urged the people of this area of ​​Bagwai to use this opportunity to become self-reliant by taking up farming, especially modern farming and give government the necessary cooperation in its policies to improve their lives.
