The Nigerian Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has emphasized on the need for Nigeria to facilitate the production of technologies by research institutions and integrate them in its war approach in order to maintain dominance as Africa's Military power in order to fight the current problem of security challenges in the country.
The Minister made the assertion while making a closing remark during the occasion of Airpower Consult 'Senior Leadership Forum on Emerging Trends and Threats in the Battlespace and Their Impact on Employment of Airpower,' held, Thursday, at the Armed Forces Officers Mess, Abuja.
He stated that, the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with Ministries of Science and Technology and that of Trade and Industries as well as other relevant agencies should jointly facilitate the production of these technologies developed by their research institutions.
In a statement made available to journalists by the Personal Assistant to the Hon. Minister of Defence on Media & Publicity, Mati Ali, the Minister assured that, "The Ministry of Defence will focus on establishing effective communication system to effectively confront the problem of Security challenges Facing the Nation."
Also, The Minister described Air power as essential Military outfit in modern warfare.
He therefore, commended the efforts of Patriotic Retired Senior officers for their efforts even in retirement and for organizing such a Forum towards enlightening the serving officers and men on the importance of embracing the employment of new technologies as a variable tool for warfare.
However, the Minister commended the forum as it was the first time that such an event is gathering the caliber of persons and officials in attendance from varied fields.
