In a devastating turn of events, the Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has again lost his son in a motor accident that occurred today (Thursday).
This heartbreaking incident comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his biological mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi, who died yesterday after a brief illness.
According to reports, the governor's son was involved in a motor accident that also affected some of his friends, who are currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.
Confirming the incident in a statement made available to newsmen by the Chief Press Secretary to the Jigawa State Governor, Mr. Hamisu Gumel, said, With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi.
"The 24-year-old departed this world on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, due to a ghastly motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road."
The burial rites are currently underway in Kafin Hausa town, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
According to the governor's spokesperson, Late Abdulwahab is survived by his parents, Governor Umar Namadi and his wife, as well as his many siblings.
"This tragic incident comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi," his statement added.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the state, with many residents expressing their condolences to the governor and his family.
This double tragedy has struck the governor's family at a time when he is away from the state, attending to official engagements in China.
Unfortunately, according to Our Correspondent in the state, this meant that the governor was unable to attend his late mother's burial service, which was held yesterday in Kafin Hausa but the funeral rites was well attended hundreds of mourners including governors, ex-governors, government officials, appointees, diplomats, clerics and prominent personalities from within and outside the state.
The recent passing of Hajia Maryam Namadi had already cast a pall of sorrow over the state, and this new tragedy has only deepened the sense of loss and grief.
Its observed that, as the news of the governor's mother and his son's passing spreads, many are in flowing into the state to express their condolences and sympathies to the governor and his family during this difficult time in his home town residence at Kafin Hausa village.
The people of Jigawa State are in mourning, and the governor's family is in their thoughts and prayers.
