Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi has approved the enrollment of his aides and all other political appointees into the Jigawa State Health insurance scheme known as JICHMA to enhance universal health coverage and provide them with essential healthcare services.
This initiative aims to strengthen the health insurance scheme in the state, ensuring that political office holders have access to quality healthcare.
Governor Namadi through the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Bala Ibrahim, while officially launching the enrollment process on Friday at a mini ceremony held in his office, emphasized that amendments to the JICHMA law have been made to facilitate the enrollment of political office holders into the health scheme.
Bala Ibrahim therefore urged all political appointees to take advantage of this opportunity to enroll in the scheme within the designated timeframe.
He led by example, along with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Senator Mujitaba Muhammad, as they were the first to be officially enrolled into the scheme register.
While commenting, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, highlighted that JICHMA has already enrolled 500 vulnerable individuals from each of the 287 political wards across the state.
"Beneficiaries of the scheme are digitally selected at the ward level, with their profiles recorded in a central database at the JICHMA head office," Dr. Ibrahim said.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of JICHMA, Pharmacist Hamza Maigari, confirmed that arrangements for the enrollment of all political appointees have been finalized.
"The enrollment exercise will take place across the 27 Local Government Areas," he said.
Pharmacist Maigari however made an appeal through the office of the SSG to ensure that all political appointees participate in this crucial enrollment process.
He noted that the scheme will provide essential healthcare services to the enrolled individuals, adding that "By enrolling political appointees into the health scheme, the government demonstrates its commitment to the welfare of its employees. This initiative is expected to have far-reaching benefits for the health and well-being of those enrolled."
Maigari also revealed that "the Jigawa State government has shown its dedication to improving healthcare services for its citizens. Through JICHMA, the government aims to provide essential healthcare services to vulnerable populations and now, political appointees."
The Newskeeper Correspondent reports that the enrollment initiative facilitated by Isah Sirajo, the Technical Adviser to the Jigawa State Governor on Health matters is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of political appointees and their families and to ensure that all citizens across all cadres have access to essential healthcare services.
