The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has launched the 2026 Ramadan Fair, a colorful and spiritually uplifting event aimed at easing the economic burden on citizens by providing essential commodities at affordable prices.
NEWSKEEPER gathered that the 2026 Ramadan Fair will run throughout the Ramadan period, offering food items, household goods, and locally manufactured products at competitive prices.
Speaking while launching the Ramadan fair at the Trade Fair Complex, Kano on Sunday, Governor Abba Yusuf, described the development as "a timely and deeply humane intervention in light of prevailing economic realities."
Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Investment, Shehu Sagagi, the governor commended KACCIMA's leadership for its foresight and proactive engagement, urging traders to embrace fairness, moderation in pricing, and empathy in the spirit of Ramadan.
"The true essence of Ramadan," he stated, "is not only in fasting but in demonstrating kindness, honesty, and social responsibility. Let our markets reflect these noble values."
In his remark, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, applauded KACCIMA President, Ambassador Usman Darma, for his efforts in repositioning the Chamber.
Waiya described the current leadership as visionary and result-driven, noting that KACCIMA has regained public confidence through initiatives like the Ramadan Fair.
The Emir of Kano, represented by the District Head of Rimin Gado and the Danmalikin Kano, Dr. Auwalu Yakasai, urged the business community to uphold integrity and fairness in all commercial dealings.
Delivering a brief lecture at the event, Sheikh Kamalu Inuwa, Chief Imam of Hidaya Friday Mosque Gandu layout, reminded the traders and entrepreneurs to desist from cheating and dishonest practices.
He emphasized that Islam permits and encourages lawful trade but strictly forbids usury, exploitation, and fraud.
Citing Quranic verses, Sheikh Inuwa warned against reducing weights and measures for unjust gain, stressing that Ramadan is a season of purification.
"Let your businesses reflect the teachings of Islam," he urged. "Trade in what is halal, deal with sincerity, and remember that every transaction is accountable before Allah."
Earlier in his address, the KACCIMA President, Ambassador Usman Darma, reaffirmed the Chamber's dedication to promoting ethical commerce, protecting consumers, and supporting enterprise development.
However, Darma expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, traditional and religious leaders, and stakeholders for their support.
"The event is expected to boost economic activity and promote social responsibility among traders and entrepreneurs," he noted.
Our Correspondent reports that the fair, held at the Trade Fair Complex in Kano, was attended by government officials, traditional leaders, religious scholars, and members of the business community.
