The jigawa state and local government contributory pension scheme board says it has disbursed the sum of over N1.452 billion for the settlement of terminal benefit of pensioners from December 2020 to March this year.
In an interactive with journalists held at the Board premises in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, the Executive Secretary of the Board Alhaji Hashim Fagam said during the period under review, a total of 589 retirees from both state, local governments and local education authorities in the state were captured.
The Executive Secretary stated that, the scheme also settled death benefits of 144 ex-workers from the three working space categories amounting to about N373,918,663 in the current period.
In the period so far, Mr Fagam, explained that, 7 beneficiaries from both the state, local governments and local education authorities were captured and settled during the first quarter of this year.
However, The Executive Secretary highlighted that, inspite the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, the Board continue to pay all entitlement of ex-workers without any hitch unlike in many other states in the federation.
"government workers in the state who are intending to retire from the service should report anybody who demand gratification in order to pursue or to pave ways for them to get their benefits from the scheme", The Executive Secretary urged.
He then appreciated the efforts of the administration of governor Muhammad Badaru as well as the teaming journalists in Jigawa state for the support given to the scheme to enable it perform it's statutory responsibility.
Jigawa state and local governments contributory scheme board which is spending over 471 million monthly for the payment of ex-workers dues has on its current payroll a number of about eleven thousands beneficiaries.
